Saratoga County Chamber Energy Savings Program
Click Here For An Energy Savings Request Form
Over 10 years ago your Chamber initiated a savings plan on electricity and natural gas that flowed through the commercial energy meters of Chamber member firms.
To avoid the mistakes made by other associations, your Saratoga Chamber contracted with local energy consultants to negotiate the best pricing from numerous energy supplies. This arrangement allows Chamber members to do what they do best, and avoid becoming amateur energy decision makers.
It also provides members with the free advice of local professionals in making their energy decisions.
The present program offers 7-8% discounts on both natural gas and electricity.
To begin the process a member submits a copy of a recent energy bill to the Chamber. In three weeks the member receives a guaranteed savings offer from our supplier. If there are questions, our consultants will answer them again at no charge.
There are no administration fees, no need for new equipment, and all services from outside electrical supply lines, poles, and transformers continue to be the responsibility of the member’s previous supplier, i.e. National Grid or N.Y.S.E.G.
Members also have the opportunity to choose renewable power as a portion of their energy supply. Although with renewable energy, the savings won’t be as high, the renewable energy purchase can be adjusted to be lower than previous full pricing.
For those members who want the stability of a fixed price over a one or two year period there is a fixed rate price. While there is no guarantee of savings, the fixed price will normally be less than the member would pay for energy from an existing supplier.
In addition to the commodity savings, the Chamber in cooperation with the State, has another program that provides energy audits by professional engineers for business accounts. These audits normally wind up costing nothing.
Within a month of requesting the audit, private sector engineers will be on site measuring consumption, equipment, and systems.
The engineers will deliver a list of recommendations with specifications and approximate pricing for suggested improvements.
The cost of implementing any suggested improvements, even just changing light bulbs, will be subtracted from the original inspection fee of between $100.00 and $400.00. This service is possible through a tax already in your commercial energy bill each month. To contact the state agency to begin the energy analysis call 862-1090.
